A SimplyBook.me alternative for small shops
SimplyBook.me is a large, flexible booking platform with a catalogue of features you switch on as you need them. Toosabai is one booking page that does bookings well and nothing else. Which is better depends almost entirely on how many of those features you would actually turn on.
What SimplyBook.me is, fairly
SimplyBook.me is a long-established booking system used across a lot of industries, and it is genuinely capable. Its plans are priced flat rather than per staff member, which already puts it ahead of most of this category for a business with a team — adding another provider inside your plan limit does not raise the bill.
Its real strength is the premium-feature catalogue: intake forms, memberships and packages, coupons, point-of-sale, and much more, each switched on or off individually. If you need any of those, this page is not going to argue you out of it. Toosabai does not have them and is not planning to.
How its pricing actually works
As of September 2026, SimplyBook.me lists five tiers. The free plan allows 50 bookings a month with one provider and one premium feature. Basic is €13.90 a month for 100 bookings, five providers and three premium features; Standard €29.90 for 500 bookings, 15 providers and eight features; Premium €59.90 for 2,000 bookings, 30 providers and unlimited features. Annual billing takes roughly 17% off. Check their pricing page for current numbers.
Two things about that shape matter for a small shop. The first is that the plan fee is monthly and recurring: a shop on Basic pays it in February as well as in December, whether it took ninety bookings or nine. The second is that the booking cap and the feature count are bundled into the same tier, so a shop that needs one extra premium feature moves up a tier and buys a higher booking cap it may not need.
How Toosabai charges instead
The first 100 bookings in a calendar month are free, with no limit on how many staff share them. A month that passes 100 costs ฿399 — for that month only. A quiet month costs nothing at all, and there is no card to enter until the first month that needs one.
That is the same idea as a booking cap turned inside out. Instead of paying up front for a cap you hope to use, you pay after the fact only in the months you actually went past it. For a business whose takings swing with the season — which is most small shops here — that difference shows up precisely in the months it hurts most to pay.
What you give up
Real things, and they are worth listing plainly. No intake forms. No memberships, packages or coupons. No point-of-sale. No deposits or card payments at the time of booking. No catalogue of features to grow into — what Toosabai does is what it does.
What you get back is that there is nothing to configure. A shop is taking bookings in a few minutes, and the person running it never has to decide which of forty features they need. If your list of must-haves is longer than "customers book the right person for the right service at a time that is genuinely free, and everyone gets reminded", the bigger platform is the right call.
Where being built here matters
Both products support many languages, so this is not a claim that SimplyBook.me cannot be used in Thai. It is narrower than that: Toosabai is built and run in Thailand, priced in baht, shows Thai dates with the Buddhist year, sends guest email in Thai or English depending on how the guest booked, and is shaped around LINE, Google Maps and QR codes at the counter because that is where bookings here actually come from.
Toosabai is the better fit when
- You want customers booking today, with setup measured in minutes.
- Your months are uneven and you would rather not pay a fee in the quiet ones.
- You have several staff and do not want the bill to depend on how many.
- You run appointments, classes, or both.
- Bookings, reminders and review requests are the whole job.
SimplyBook.me is the better fit when
- You need intake forms, memberships, packages or coupons.
- You want point-of-sale, or to take payment at the time of booking.
- You want one platform you can keep adding features to over years.
- You have more than about ten staff, or more than one location.
Common questions
- Is Toosabai cheaper than SimplyBook.me?
- In a quiet month, yes — it is free, and a monthly plan fee is not. In a busy month it is ฿399 against whatever your tier costs. The honest answer is that they are priced on different ideas: one sells you a cap in advance, the other bills you after you pass one.
- Does Toosabai limit how many staff I can have?
- No. The price does not change with the number of staff, and the free allowance is shared across all of them. Staff logins are capped at ten, which is about the size of shop this is built for.
- Can I move my bookings across?
- There is no import tool. In practice shops start Toosabai with their upcoming bookings entered by hand — an owner can add a booking in a few taps — and let the old system run out. For a shop with a few weeks of bookings ahead that is an evening, not a migration.
- What happens if I go over 100 bookings?
- Nothing stops. The month is charged ฿399 and everything keeps working. There is no cap that blocks the 101st customer, which is the failure mode a booking allowance usually has.
- Does Toosabai do group classes like SimplyBook.me?
- Yes. A service can take several guests at the same time, with places counted and a full class closed automatically. What it does not have is a waitlist for full classes.
